Up-Cycle: Le Tour de France Sculpture

In July 2014 the Tour De France will be held in Yorkshire and will be passing through the village of Worrall. As a legacy to mark this occasion Sara and Robin have designed and installed a contemporary site specific artwork that has engaged the local community in its creation. This exciting project has been fully supported by a number of local businesses who have sponsored the project through the donation of practical resources, their time and their expertise.

Creative Workshop 1

The basic construction of the sub-frame had to be substantial. We worked with both Martin Evans Assoc, Structural Engineers, the Highways Dept and Jewel Construction to design a piece that would be suitable to withstand the wear-and-tear of any vehicle issues.
Hillsborough Steel Stock supplied us with the raw materials, Rollmaster Rings Ltd produced our steel hoop and Ashurst Fabrications manufactured the framework to our specifications. A great team effort!
Our role was to get creative! We had a great turn-out with the piece starting to take shape:
